Stonehenge / Avebury

Stonehenge is quite simply awesome. Of course this has to be seen in context because it is still not understood how it was created given the resources and technology of the time. The stones came from over 300 miles away and range in weight from 40-80 tonnes. Once at the site they had to be propped upright. The problem is that noone can figure out how they did it because of their level of technology. I was also impressed with the project itself which lasted for over 1200 years (1200-1500 yrs.) It is quite impressive that the residents of the area would continue to build this over centuries and not get bored with it. The stones actually demonstrate some basic technology in the way they fit together and are constructed. It was very cool to see.
