Isle de Tortuga

One of the day trips from Montezuma went to an uninhabited island off the coast called Isle de Tortuga. This was the best trip we took in Costa Rica and stands in my mind as the epitome of paradise and relaxation. The island is reached by an hour's boat ride out of Montezuma. When you get to the place you realize that the waters are a turquoise blue normally reserved for travel posters. The island has a perfect white crescent sand beach lined with palm trees and backed by forest. I spent hours on that sand without a care in the world.

The island was a completely relaxing place to hang out for the day. One important skill acquired on that island is how to open a coconut without using a tool. It requires a lot of effort to open one of these suckers, but it is worth the effort - you get a drink and snack.
