Santa Elena - A Cloud Forest - part 1

Cloud forests are a highlight on any trip to Costa Rica. Santa Elena Cloud Forest Preserve did not disappoint. The forest is extremely lush and teeming with life. These places are the forest equivalent of New York City. All available real estate to grow is in high demand, so things grow upwards. Some of the trees become a base for other plants to grow off. The Big Funky tree below had all sorts of friends growing off it. In these places everywhere you look there is something growing, crawling or hiding. We caught a hike with a guide who showed us all kinds of stuff. I can now differentiate a Centipede from a Millipede and be mindful of the one that bites.
